REACh (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemicals)

REACh is a new Europe-wide chemicals act that was rendered effective on June 1, 2007 (1907/2006/EU). REACh is the acronym for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals). It is a new EU chemicals act that centralizes and simplifies the chemicals statutes on the Pan-European level. It assigns the responsibility for the safe handling of chemical substances to the manufacturers and importers of these materials.

REACh does not only govern the chemical industry; it also extends to Evers-Druck, which is part of the value chain affected by this legislation. Its core business of manufacturing catalogs, magazines and newspaper inserts using the sheet and heat set roller offset printing process and related further processing make Evers-Druck a downstream user who uses a substance or composition within the scope of industrial or commercial activities. The legislation that is relevant to Evers-Druck is Article 33 of the REACh Act. As it is in our own interest, and because of our commitment to maximum supply and product safety, we take our information obligations very seriously.

The information mandate pursuant to Article 33 governs in particular the "substances of very high concern (SVHC)"), which meet the criteria of Article 57. These substances are carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic for reproduction (governed by Categories 1 and 2) as well as organic substances that are persistent, bio accumulative and toxic (PBT) or very persistent and highly bio accumulative (vPvB). This substances also have to have a concentration of more than 0.1 mass percent in the product. At this time, the list of SVHC substances comprises 15 different substances and is published on the website of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA, echa.europa.eu/chem_data/candidate_list_table_en.asp ).

We comply with the statutory provisions of Article 33 of the REACh Act through the implementation of the following procedures:
